Who are We? |
The South Carolina Association For Hazard Mitigation (SCAHM) is a
professional organization dedicated to educating our communities about
mitigating hazards and loss prevention. Our members represent various
professions, including but not limited to: building code enforcement
officials and inspectors, company Presidents and Vice Presidents,
emergency managers, engineers, floodplain managers, GIS technicians,
hydrologists, planning and/or zoning officials, and project managers.
The SCAHM sponsors an annual educational conference in the spring each
year. Educational sessions on multiple types of hazards are presented
during the annual educational conference. The SCAHM also sponsors four
roundtable discussions per year in locations across the State of South
Carolina, where those interested in hazard mitigation may attend to hear
presentations on hazard-related topics and to discuss current issues.
The SCAHM is a Chapter Member of the Association of State Floodplain
Managers, Inc. (ASFPM), the primary professional association of
floodplain managers in the US.
The S.C. Association for Hazard Mitigation offers Corporate, Agency,
Individual, and Student memberships to those interested in Hazard
mitigation. Membership applications are available. Our members receive
email alerts on important floodplain-related issues, and have the
opportunity to attend several training events annually, including
roundtable meetings.
Our roundtable meetings and conferences are also creditable for
continuing education for ASFPM Certified Floodplain Managers (CFMs).
Our officers and board members will be pleased to answer any questions
regarding SCAHM.
Thank you for your interest in SCAHM!
